What Are The Titans?
Contained in these records, recovered by Ellie Clementine, is a fragment of history discovered off the coast of Cathedra. It appears to be a list of the 7 Titan types and the one evil controlling them all. The fragment is incomplete; this is what we were able to pull from it. The 8 images are recovered images from the Hypervisor of Thought.

The Titans are more than just enemies.
In many ways, they aren't really enemies at all. But by the same token, they aren't misunderstood monsters who just need a little empathy either.
The Titans within this world always begin as normal people, people like you or me. Somewhere along the way, however, The Grey sees them as pawns in a larger game. Pawns that, at any moment, can be traded out for a queen.
There is a distinct air of melancholy that I felt was important to carry throughout the descriptions of these Titans, primarily because their stories are so tragic. The nature of their transformations highlights an idea that matters deeply to me: most people don't simply choose to become bad. Usually, something guides them there.
In this case, The Grey is that guide.
At their core, each Titan represents a subset of an archetype:
The type of person who uses logic and reason as their guide to life.
The type of person who uses personal testimony and story as their guide to life.
The type of person who uses society and community as their guide to life.
The type of person who uses empirical evidence and science as their guide to life.
The type of person who uses philosophy and theology as their guide to life.
The type of person who uses justice and fairness as their guide to life.
The type of person who uses history and patterns across time as their guide to life.
It's a tricky thing, this balancing act.
On the one hand, these Titans exist within a dark fantasy world—a world of monsters, kings, and impossible structures. On the other hand, I am a Christian, and as such, I have intentionally allowed some of the themes within this world to reflect aspects of what I believe.
As a writer and as a person, I can't help but write about these kinds of things.
To me, a good story is just as important as the message it's trying to convey. My hope, and my prayer, is that no matter who reads these stories or engages with this material, I can approach these stories genuinely and honestly.
If the Titans can become a vehicle that causes you to think about people, the world, corruption, and maybe even evil itself a little differently, I think I'm okay with that.
